The unexpected inspiration from our trip to Portugal
It has been 2 weeks since we got back from Portugal, and while I miss it dearly and am still posting about it on Instagram, there is one thing from that trip that has inspired me in a way that I didn't see coming.
Being more active.
Now, I'm not talking about running or hiking. I will still laugh at you if you ask me about running. (Nothing against you. It's a habit.)
I'm talking generally. When we were in Portugal, we walked about 80 miles in the almost 2 weeks we were there. Breaking the 20,000 step limit was a huge deal for me considering that prior to that trip, I struggled even doing 7,000 steps in a work day since sitting at a computer all day doesn't exactly equate to an active lifestyle.
Near the end of our trip, Melvin and I were talking about how we could keep this momentum up in our daily lives. I hated to think that I'd go back to my sedentary lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, I still have periods of time where I'm sitting and knitting, but I've balanced it out a little better now.
I knit on the way to and from work. I go to the gym afterwards to do some cardio and strength training. I knit again to unwind before bed. I give myself days of rest in between.
My days are a little different now, and I like it. A lot.
