Full of Hot Air... literally.

This past weekend, Melvin, Jen, and I got to go to the 2016 Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic up in Windsor, CA! I had never really seen hot air balloons up close and personal, so when I saw the event on Eventbrite, I thought it'd be a great experience!

Crowds and crowds of people showed up. I believe the announcers said that it was the largest turnout they've ever had. The main launch was supposed to happen at 6:30, but due to fog at the small airport the balloons were supposed to land at, the pilots didn't get the ok to launch until 7. It wasn't a bad wait at all since we got to see how the balloons were set up. We were right in the thick of it — moving aside to let trucks with their balloons and baskets through, watching teams unravel their balloons and fill it with air. And let me tell you... those things are EPIC.

I've got pictures and videos to give you the gist of it. Enjoy!

I'll give you one guess as to who that green balloon turned out to be...

Though waking up at 3am wasn't ideal, it ended up being one of the coolest experiences I've had here in Northern California, and I'd definitely recommend going next year!
