A Season of Letters & Lettering

If you've been following along on Instagram, you will have noticed that I've started back up on doing some lettering again! It started off with adding my hand-lettered tags to our holiday cards, which led to the lettering of the envelopes that got sent out this week. Well, most of them. Family, I apologize, I haven't gotten those out to you yet. :/

I got to take advantage of the fact that I was sending mail, so I stopped by Paper Source to pick up some envelope options! I say that excitedly because my favorite part of any Paper Source store is the stationery section. It's stationery heaven. Googly eyes all day.

Anyway, with input from Melvin, I chose 3 different colors for our cards, kraft, light green, and red (not shown below).

I went to the post office to pick up some holiday stamps, but they were out of them already. Apparently, that's what happens when you wait last minute. Who knew? Haha. I picked up whatever booklet they had, which ended up being a picture of a flag with fireworks in the background. Very Fourth of July/semi-New Year's-y, but I can accept that. For the return address, I didn't letter that because I didn't want the front of the envelope to get cluttered so I stuck one of my many free address labels from Feeding America on the back. It all works out. Haha. Maybe not visually, but it's what's inside that counts, right? ;)

All that to say, I had a lot of fun preparing these holiday cards, and I got a lot of joy and satisfaction out of addressing the envelopes and dropping them in the mailbox. I'm kinda inspired to send more snail mail now, soooo... who wants to be my penpal?!
