In the weeks leading up to Christmas last year, I was having an extremely difficult time getting excited for the holidays because it was the first year in my 25 years of life that I was going to be away from family.
Since then, I've been thinking about my family more than ever in my day-to-day routine. When I got to go home last month for two weeks, I spent every minute I could with family, and when I left, I felt empty.
I realize that that may sound cliché, but it's true.
I spent my first couple of days yearning to be back with them, and since then, I've had to make a conscious effort to not feel homesick. So, I decided start a blog series called Family Fridays as a way to ease the homesickness and make me feel closer to home by celebrating family events/happenings from a distance.
To start this series off, I want to celebrate the newest addition to our family, little Nike-Anne! She was due a couple of days ago, but graced us all with her presence a week early! Now, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her in person yet, but thanks to my cousin, I have met her through Skype. (Thank God for technology!)
Nike-Anne, I can't wait to meet you in May! I love you, little one!
